The Harrington Family Health Center is a community health center providing primary medical care, dental and mental health services to the residents of Washington County and eastern Hancock County, Maine. HFHC is a warm and relaxed patient-centered practice located in Harrington, Maine, a friendly rural down east community known for its blueberry barrens, lobster fishing and recreational opportunities.

We provide about 15,000 encounters annually to a broad cross-section of the community, including low income patients, migrant farm workers, seasonal and year-round residents. The Health Center also is an affiliate of Tufts University Dental School, University of New England, Husson University, WCCC, Beal University, and UMaine, serving as a teaching site for students.

The Health Center is located in Harrington which is part of the heart of Downeast Maine and has some of the most affordable oceanfront property in Maine and probably in the country. There are many four season recreational opportunities in the area and accessible to Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Ellsworth and Bangor, Maine.

Washington County – the world’s largest producer of wild blueberries.

Harrington Family Health Center is located in Washington County. Forests on one side and the ocean on the other surround us. If you are interested in any kind of outdoor activity you will enjoy this area. You will have beaches to walk and explore, mountains to climb, plus a newly established Down East Sunrise Trail that runs from Ellsworth to Calais. This trail is maintained summer and winter for walking, biking, 4-wheeling, snowmobiling and cross country skiing.

This area of Downeast Maine is relatively close to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, Ellsworth, Machias and Bangor, where the Bangor International Airport is located. The University of Maine at Machias is just 20 miles away, they have a performing arts center with different attractions throughout the year. There are many good elementary and high schools, not only in Harrington but also in the surrounding areas.

The Downeast Sunrise Trail extends from Ellsworth to Ayers Junction.

Besides Harrington Family Health Center there is also Down East Community Hospital in Machias, Northern Light Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth and Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.
